About Leeds Lodge

Peace Window 1920. Peace to all Beings.

Leeds Lodge is a member of the Theosophical Society in England.

The Leeds Lodge is based in Queen Square in a beautiful conservation area of Georgian buildings close to Leeds city centre.

The Lodge received its charter from the International Theosophical Society headquarters in Adyar, India on 19 September 1900. The famous intellectual and socialist Arthur Orage was the first President. The current President is Dr Paul Barker.

Astrology was a major area of interest and active study from the 1920s. Evidence of this interest may be seen in the wonderful pokerwork wooden panelling on the walls of the Library.

These panels depict the 12 signs of the zodiac as well as  images of the arts. Furthermore there is a magnificent stained glass zodiacal window that is set within an oak frame and illuminated from behind.

The interest in astrology seems to have waxed and waned somewhat over the years, but over the past decade the tradition has been revived.

We hold conferences, lectures and online webinars in both Jyotish (Vedic Astrology) and western esoteric (or soul-based) astrology.

These disciplines complement the work undertaken in other esoteric and spiritual disciplines such as alchemy, numerology and tarot, as well as in mainstream Theosophy and mysticism (both Christian and Eastern).

These have proved to be very popular with the Lodge members and with people from further afield.

The Leeds Lodge is one of the white Georgian buildings on the right hand side, No 12 – Near the Merrion Shopping Centre and the Leeds Arena. 12 Queen Square, Leeds LS2 8AJ.
